BUTLER TWP. – Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel met with Butler Township officials and business leaders in a business roundtable discussion on Thursday. The wide-ranging discussion lasted a little over an hour and was hosted by Van Con General Contractors at their offices on Dixie Drive. Mandel said the purpose of the roundtable discussions held around the state was to listen, not to talk. “I didn’t come here to talk much,” said Mandel, “I came to listen. It seems to me that people in Columbus think they know better about what people need in policy than the people it affects. I don’t agree – you are my boss,” he told the audience of approximately 20 that included State Senator Bill Beagle (R - Tipp City) and State Representative Mike Henne (R - Clayton).

VANDALIA – The contract approved By the Vandalia-Butler Board of Education for the incoming Superintendent, Brad Neavin, will represent a savings of at least 14.8 percent to the district based on an analysis of Neavin’s contract and that of retiring Superintendent, Christy Donnelly. Neavin’s salary of $135,000 per year will save the district $23,535 in salary alone, as well as reduced retirement contributions that are calculated as a percentage of salary. The three-year contract was approved by the Board of Education on April 30 and signed by Neavin the same day. In form and language, the contract is essentially the same that the district had with Donnelly with a few exceptions.
